Sometimes the best projects aren't the biggest ones. This 50m² extension and full renovation in Lorne proves that thoughtful design and quality execution can completely transform a home.

Our clients came to us with a compact beach house that had the views but not the space or the finish to match. We added a guest suite with ensuite, created an additional bathroom and laundry, and renovated throughout to bring the whole home up to the standard the location deserved.

The site threw us some challenges. Steep, tight, and perched to capture those ocean views. But that's what made the result so satisfying. We wrapped a spotted gum deck around the extension so every angle opens up to the water. Inside, cathedral ceilings lift the space and flood it with natural light from carefully placed new windows.

The Coonara fireplace anchors the living area. Underfloor heating in the bathrooms makes winter stays comfortable. We re-clad the exterior in Nuline weatherboard over a full Proclima wrap system, tightening up the building envelope and giving the home a fresh, coastal look that'll last.

Seven months from start to finish. A limited footprint, but the impact was anything but small. This one's a reminder that great building isn't always about scale. It's about understanding the site, respecting the brief, and delivering a result that feels right.
